Data - Now More than Ever

Why is data analysis more important now than ever. Its simple. We had a pandemic and for whatever reason we, in education, just kept rolling. Content was delivered online in the best way we knew how. Some students were able to follow along, but the vast majority experienced some or an extreme degree of learning loss.

Now we have to address that learning loss just as funding sources are starting to go down when we need them to go up. With limited support staff, how do we best identify what supports students need.

Only by taking a closer look at our data will we be able to tell which skills a student needs the most help with. It could be literacy, numeracy, executive functioning or social emotional needs. Or not surprisingly all of the above. None of these needs exists in a vacuum. Frustration with feeling lost in class can lead to bad behavior which leads to less attendance. It can be a horrific cycle, unless we address the problem now.

So build those charts, check your trends and identify those cohorts. We need to get all students the help they need yesterday.
